ORGANISATION BY BUSINESS DIVISION
An unlisted family business, the Auchan group operates a progressive and controlled international growth policy, concentrating its investments on priority areas for development: Western Europe, Central and Eastern Europe and Asia.
Present in 12 countries and regions*, the group organises its operations into business divisions: hypermarkets, supermarkets, property and banking.
*France, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Luxembourg, Poland, Hungary, Russia, Romania (as a partnership), China, Taiwan and Ukraine.
This international strategy enables the company to establish and maintain solid positions in the various countries. At a rate of around forty stores opening every year, in 2005 Auchan broke the barrier of 1,000 integrated stores.
Continuing its internal growth policy, the hypermarkets division has over 380 stores in 12 countries. The Auchan sign appeared in Romania in 2006, in partnership with the company MGV Distri-Hiper.
With over 2,000 points of sale of which 700 are wholly owned, the supermarket division is present in 6 countries (France, Italy, Spain, Poland, Russia and Ukraine). It is developing franchises in 3 countries: France, Italy and Spain.
Banque Accord and Immochan, the banking and property subsidiaries of the Auchan group, are accompanying its development and progressively establishing a presence in the countries where Auchan operates.
To feed its organic growth, the group is also permanently search for commercial innovation and testing new concepts. Some of these new concept s have already been launched with for example the Halles d'Auchan, in France.
